o    Do I need to create a separate account with PinHog?
No, you do not need to create a separate account with PinHog at present. User login using their Pinterest account to view or pin. Please click on the ‘key’ icon on the navigation bar to login into Pinterest.


o    How to customize your Pinterest categories and create your own category?
Under overflow menu -> channels, you can select from the pre-set categories of your interest, such as Gifts, Beauty, Holidays, etc. With the [+] button you could also create a category of your choice based on the topic of your interest; or for your user ID to show your saved pins at one place.


o    How does the bar code scanner works? How can I pin webpages? Can I add my pin images?
PinHog lets you share pin link or original webpage link; and has a unique feature to let you pin web pages by just scanning QR/BAR codes. You could pin web pages from any app that shares web links (e.g. the Android Browser). If you would like to pin web pages by scanning QR/BAR CODES directly using PinHog, then you also need to install the free Barcode Scanner app by ZXing to avail this cool functionality. We currently do not have the functionality to add your pin images, but will be coming in the future versions.


o    How can I look through various categories or view pins in each category?
On the main screen, you can swipe right or left to easily change categories in the channel view, and you can also swipe in the pin view to swipe easily through all the pins without the need of going back to the main screen each time.


o    How do I see my followers and see the pins from people I follow?
To check our your pins or your followers, please login into Pinterest using the ‘key’ icon on top; or simply click ‘press to like, repin, or comment’ at the bottom of any pin. This will take you to Pinterest, where you could then click on the ‘person’ icon on the top right corner to check out your boards, pins and followers/following.
Under default PinHog main page, you could see some pins only (not all) as PinHog has some limitations on the number of pins downloaded from Pinterest at a given time. We are working to allow viewing all your pins on main PinHog screen in future versions.


o    How do I like pins or make a comment? Will my comment be saved in Pinterest account?
Simply click on the ‘press to Like, repin or comment’ button under the pin which will take you to Pinterest account to save your like/comment on Pinterest.


o    How to filter out previously viewed pins and view un-viewed pins only?
PinHog automatically marks pin viewed after a predefined time limit (which you can change via Preferences screen). You can filter un-viewed pins by pressing the [show un-read pins (star shape icon)]. This will save you time in scrolling through all the pins.


o    How to set a pin as LIVE wall-paper?
When you are viewing any specific pin, if you like it, simply click on the overflow menu to choose that pin for your wall-paper. Under preferences, you could select ‘Random Sequence’ to randomize your wall-paper sequence; change update frequency; and select to change wall paper on screen wake.


o    Is there a home screen widget for PinHog?
Not yet. If you would like to see a widget, we will definitely create one. Let us know.


o    How can I save my favorite pins for viewing later?
Simply check the save icon on the top bar when viewing any pin, and it save your favorite pins permanently within PinHog or you can save to other applications installed on your device using the [share] button.


o    How do I change the automatic download frequency of the new pins?
In the background, we keep downloading and refreshing your category pins from our server so when you open PinHog, the latest pins are there for you. The time interval is set at every 6 hours by default, but it can be modified to your desired frequency via Preferences.


o    How can I set to download pins at a given time, example before going out on commute?
If you would like to avoid taxing your data plan with every new downloads of pins, simply set the alarm time to download the pins at a specific time (say first thing in the morning before you leave house, or in the evening under Wi-Fi connection) Pins will automatically be downloaded at the time you specify. You could set-up the background update on WiFi only (option under preferences) to avoid taxing your data plan.  


o    How to share pins to Twitter, Facebook, Google+, email, Blogger, etc.?
Simply click on the share icon to share your favorite pins to various social networks, email, text message, copy to clipboard, etc. In addition, you can click on the like button to mark your liked pins for you to share later.


o    How does PinHog compliment the official Pinterest App?
PinHog is designed for browsing Pinterest anytime, anywhere, even without and internet connection and without taxing your data plan! o    Is PinHog available on iPhone/iPad?
We do not have a version of PinHog available yet for iPhone/iPad, but we do have plans to develop one in the near future. If you are interested in an iPhone/iPad version, please revisit this website or like PinHog Facebook page for regular updates.



Troubleshooting Tips


o    How to clear space on device?
You could change the clean-up frequency under preferences to save space on your device. The default is set to clear up images every 24 hours, but if you have concerns with space on your device you could clean up pre-downloaded images every 12 hours. You could also change the image quality to medium resolution under preferences to save space.
